This is why many Salmon and Steelhead patterns use Temple Dog. It gives a vibrant, pulsating motion to your flies when used as wings.

Medium-sized braid made from overdyed rainbow mylar, suggested for tying both full bodies and partial ribbing.
It can also be unraveled, extracting the fibers composing the braid to obtain a flat Mylar for making wings or tails of small flies.
To achieve interesting color variations, it can be wrapped over other base threads, producing multiple shades of color.
